I'm not one of those artists who does beautiful linework for a client sketch either, it's usually hours of work towards something that looks like it was smeared out in 20 minutes

NGL I go over my sketches at least once or twice so they actually look presentable (plus I don't like freehanding linework, so I get the sketch as neat as I can to start lining)

We must appreciate the potato phase of sketches 🙏

Animation Supervisor Koichi Hatsumi makes a clear effort to draw upon the artstyle from the source material while still delivering something unique. Faces are more angular with sharp linework, features like the ears are more simplified with the shape looking quite Togashi esque

detail shotsss - i really like the pavement grain and the treeline in the back and being able to achieve those looks with very loose brush strokes is helping me break out my comfort zone where i'm used to very hard-edged precise linework
