This luminous painting is one of Daumier’s most highly regarded works. The composition here is very simple and effective and the mountainous landscape is suggested by two sloping diagonals of differing colours.

Initial doodle. Composition edit once I thought it had legs to go somewhere. Inks & colours. Since I thought of it as a cover for I threw in the Title Font.

Be nice if it was an actual cover. Maybe some day.

Last month I was allowed to participate in the MTZine and did up a sketch and lines and everything, and then injured my wrist before I could add colours. Huge thanks to for coming to my rescue and turning this into a collab piece instead. It looks amazing~
