Me on my first day: Yeah I'll probably just clean some less significant fossils today since its day one
Them: Hey you wanna help out with this mammoth skull from our most complete specimen?
Me:
Had an excellent day visiting @NtlMuseumsScot to see the beautiful work of Robert Logan - a little known Scottish entomologist. Viewing his original paintings and other specimens has been so useful for my research. Thank you to wonderful @AshWhiffin for helping! #AskACurator 🦋🐛

Very cool to see National Hispanic Heritage Month kicked off yesterday with this #GoogleDoodle celebrating Ynés Mexía – one of the most significant collectors of botanical specimens in history! #NHHM
For those who wondered about the tortoise piece yesterday: I finally found a paper that gives some information on this matter. The remains speak for a roughly max. 140 cm long shell, but of course there could have been larger specimens ;) #paleoart #paleostream #turtle #sciart
More evolutionary insights from the #BurgessShale, a new species of Mollisonia described by Aria and @ROMtoronto curator J-B. Caron. I remember seeing some of these specimens before they'd been prepared, absolutely unreal levels of appendage details revealed! #DeepTime
A wonderful specimen from this famous flourite locality. at Minerva No 1 Mine, Illinois.

Specimen de Caractères Arabes, Beyrouth (Beirut), 1908. A printer’s type specimen book featuring Arabic characters, one of the many non-Latin examples in the Archive.
"A history of the fishes of the British Islands" (1862-65) by Jonathan Couch was the 1st widely-available book on British fish featuring color plates, which were based on recently-caught specimens. In #BHLib via @Fisher_Library & @SILibraries: https://t.co/nF7DUrB7f0 #FishyFriday
Happy #FossilFriday! Here's a photogrammetry model of an Eryops pelvis from the Cambridge Museum of Zoology. It finally finished computing the dense point cloud (after days of continuous processing!). My first time using photogrammetry to model a specimen, pretty exciting!
Letters of the alphabet, placed in a bowl and spilled out onto the floor, will tell one's future based on the letters that land face up. #FolkloreThursday 📷: plant specimens from the Steere Herbarium via @NYBG @NYBGHerbarium: https://t.co/zkNmQzi2cW
More Twitter bird feathers.
Specimens from the Twittophorus notata species
Mostly me mucking about with feather shapes.
One specimen of Gladocephaloideus is so complete and well-preserved that it even includes traces of hair-like pycnofibers. https://t.co/YqOBxq3WB0
Feather specimens from the common species of Twitter bird 🐦
Mostly a silly sketchbook idea that becomes a good excuse to play around with shapes, proportions, and colours.
