Essays of Sir William Cornwallis MP (the younger) 1632.
I love that he's shown studying on one side and then writing on the other.
Cornwallis was on Essex's Irish campaign of 1599. A friend of John Donne, he died in 1614.

The Mermaid of Zennor by John Reinhard Weguelin was inspired by a Medieval legend of a mermaid who lived at Pendour Cove, near Zennor, Cornwall.
Legend tells a man fell in love with the her, followed her beneath the waves, never to be seen again.

🌊🌩️🌊The Doom Bar at Padstow, Cornwall - a wide sandbar notorious for shipwrecks - is said to have been raised in a violent storm by a Mermaid who cursed the town with her dying breath after being shot.

Using this demanding and difficult medium he portrayed scenes of everyday life in a fishing village, highlighting the hardships and tragedies that were commonplace during that period. Langley remained based in West Cornwall throughout his career, and died in Penzance in 1922

Birch first visited West Cornwall in the late 1880s and settled in the Lamorna Valley in 1892. He adopted the epithet 'Lamorna' in 1895 to distinguish himself from fellow artist Lionel Birch (an idea suggested by Stanhope Forbes).

A sweet picture of childhood for my #ArtLovers. Wee Viscount Brome, son of Marquess of Cornwallis of 🇺🇸Rev fame, rendered in pastels with his older sister Lady Mary & their adorable pink-cheeked cousin Miss Caroline Townshend. Their spaniel plays nearby.

In Cornwall if you are near a portal to fairyland you will smell an intense floral scent...

We are delighted to present a solo exhibition by Jo March entitled 'Home' from 11th to 24th June at Marine House. Works available now on our website. Jo's whimsical paintings are eternally popular, and wonderfully colourful, showing her home county of Cornwall in all its glory.

He rarely went to London and preferred to stay in his native Cornwall. He died in Newlyn in 1941.

In twenty-four hours both Tim and I will be "resting down in Cornwall, writing up the memoirs, for a paperback edition of the Boy Scout Manual." See ya in a week!

On Cornwall's Bodmin Moor is the bottomless Dozmary Pool where King Arthur's knight, honouring Arthur's will, cast away Excalibur. A female arm rose from the water, clasped the sword & sank back beneath the surface.
Excalibur lies there still, in the cold, black, lifeless lake.
