I read May The Best Man Win by @ZREllor on the beach during my archaeology field school this summer. This fun twist on the quarterback/cheerleader romance will warm your heart.
You can walk around #Norfolk ‘s oldest surviving 1800 year old house at #Caister-on-Sea #Roman fort. It was built with a #Norfolk winter in mind with underfloor and wall heating. This my reconstruction illustration for on-site panel #HypocaustGate #Archaeology

The Wrekin in Shropshire boasts two Iron Age hillforts at its summit. Unusually, one is enclosed by the other. The outer hillfort is multivallate, the inner univallate. The NE entrances are known as Hell Gate and Heaven Gate respectively.

2/3 the West was the subject of episode 5 of #DiggingForBritain and here are some of the highlights of the #d4bdrawings from this one. Cheddar gorge Roman brooches and knife handles and some very bad site habits (practiced by everyone) featured #archaeology
#d4bdrawing this is a piece of ridge tile, roof would have been bluish in colour ridge tiles green.

#MosaicMonday Another fascinating, if slightly odd, mosaic inscription from Roman Britain (the villa at Frampton, Dorset): ‘The head of Neptune allotted the kingdom tossed by winds, whose face/beard is dark blue and girt by twin dolphins’ #ClassicsTwitter #romanarchaeology

A bit of Metroid-flavoured (mm, delicious!) digital archaeology via the power of the Wayback Machine. Managed to find some functional scrapes of the https://t.co/BNssg7rtbJ site from Dec 2002 when Metroid was back-back-back with Fusion and Prime.

The @oatweet excavations in Hull shown on #DiggingforBritain last night showed some really delightful finds. This odd couple - a ‘pipe tamper’ and ‘trinket’ caught my eye. But hopefully doesn’t gain me a twitter ban! #D4Bdrawing #Archaeology @RareTelevision @theAliceRoberts
