Letter to Stan Lee and Steve Ditko, in Amazing Spider-Man

A parent writes in to say he is glad Marvel comics talk about discrimination, support civil rights for black Americans, and oppose hate groups.

Here we see Steve Ditko, former member of his high school science team and worked as a reporter in WWII (IIRC).

This isn't to poo poo on Ditko tho...I absolutely adore Ditko's "wonky" art but I might get something else from him, surprisingly. Though I've think about this panel far too many times to count:

The Goon is another good one to recommend. Humorous but with heart, and good pulpy action.

Loved the Yoe book of Ditko short stories.

The first Spidey/Scorpion fight in AS was deadly serious, but Ditko goes for the funny this time. Check out the repetition in the second and fourth panels here. Lee pushes it even further with an upside-down word balloon! 4/5

It was actually designed to be orange and purple according to Ditko.

the origin of Mysterio...! - from Amazing Spider-man no.13, June 1964 - after the late, great STEVE DITKO :)

J Jonah Jameson!

JJJ by Ditko, Romita, Andru, and Sal Buscema!

Spidey wouldn’t be the same without hot-headed Jameson in the wings!

Ilustración a doble página que fue publicada en la ya extinta revista “SFX/Comicmanía”, que además acompañaba al primer reportaje que escribí en ella.

This panel always bugs me. Ditko creates a cool costume and Stan Lee insults it. Lee often call things “corny” - even his own dialogue. There’s a weird anxiety in imagining what readers might criticize as corny and so trying preemptively to negate it by calling it corny yourself

Nice to finally get the most Ditko-accurate Mysterio action figure (that I’m aware of)! From a recent Marvel Legends line. Debuting in 1964, Mysterio is one of Steve Ditko’s most striking character designs, imbued with all the mystery & phantasmagoria the character’s name implies

Circus of Crime "Use their special abilities to rob their audience" by Steve Ditko

Hello, here is some stuff I’ve drawn, I’m no Steve Ditko but plz Atleast notice me? :3

I think if Gwen Stacy was never killed off, I think she would've been written out anyway as she was very boring character once she was Peter's girlfriend, she had more personality in the few Ditko issues she was in than, everything after
