He was attacked by a badger and lost his eyesight along with his ability to walk on his right leg. Deemed as a hero after saving a couple of kits, but had to abandon his warrior duties to become an elder. (More info in comments)

Never tackled a Starling in w/colour - the myriad of stunning colours always put me off - in strong light anything goes with this lovely bird so had a go. They don’t seem under threat here, although vast roosting flocks to the city centre are long gone
