Tried a more serious coloring attempt in Clip Studio and I am starting to understand how brushes and pens work there. This is just a quick sketch I still outlined with SAI because the flow is smoother for outlines there… for coloring I used Clip Studio which was a lot of fun.

I'm going to return to the fort texture because I have to deal with those outlines. Still, it could be worse.

On the bright side, I worked on an experiment for my master project. It's a small test to see how I'd ink the outlines. As it was, proved the art.

You awoke my instincts ^_^. personally I would avoid double outlines (banding) and using higlights on off planes. Your edit shows your you really learnt from mine (attached) but still made it yours, kept the tail, etc. I'm glad.

I also wanna add that when trying to do a realistic study of a face, that you should be aware of line dependency. since there are no outlines or anything in the real world, adding them to the representation of the real world will make the final piece look a bit uncanney.
