It's like midnight and here I am playing with lighting, going completely overboard.
Here's another shot where I got to do clean up, lighting, and FX cleanup! Shine wipes on metallic surfaces are SO FUN!
Key anim by @EllePowerr (Which if you're not following her for her art, anim, etc etc you really should. She's SO incredible!)
Day 17 of #JuneStudyJam
Galaxy-magic look today. I want to become more comfortable using colour in my shadows and lighting, really push my illustration style outside of its natural-light box.
Also 😉 to the Bob Ross painting study palette I loved!
Done with Autodesk Sketchbook
@fosiel_ Thanks for hosting this 🌸 what i like atm is the colors and lighting, but I always try to improve with each piece! WHY IS ART SO HARD
Colored gorls! I'm v tired now and going to bed, so this is what I have done atm. I need to finish their eyes, shade, add lighting, and recolor inner lines before its done but i love them so far.
it blends the specular+diffuse result using via screen, then blends that result with the original texture/colour via multiply. produces a very viable ambient colour lighting.
Here's the final result using diffuse lighting, ambient cubemap lighting, and specular !!
i made a tutorial on how to create a simple background from scratch! there's a lot of info about lighting, colors, and just general Good To Know background stuff!
you can check it out for free on my patreon here:

First stages of adding colour to Values first is done!
Now to get in there with some rim lighting, specular & paZAZZ!
I really enjoyed this technique ^-^

Also it relies on an additional viewport as a buffer for drawing all the lighting, but there doesn't seem to be a way to get that to draw *before* the actual viewport, so it's always 1 frame behind :\ large amounts of motion produce these annoying 'holes' in the darkness
@EnkiiMuto @LeagueOfLegends @riotgames The tracing leads to something like the first image, then I define the direction of lighting, base colors, and then just polish.
(btw one cool thing about aseprite that can help you with small stuff is that it let's you keep a zoomed out version of the piece viewable on the side)
In most lighting, the blouse is actually a lot more cool of a grey tone than I would have liked for my fabric. But in this lighting, it's absolutely PERFECT (picture of the Edna for reference!) so that's awesome, and it should look fine in the full ensemble too next to everything
another fan-art for @yukc0roblox @G0Zroblox and @Z00ZYQ !! ft. caroline and clinten in the background- also im not proud of the shading and lighting,, still practicing- but this was fun to make tho!! toook me 2-3 hours?? either way, i hope you guys like it :'0
I'm going through my files more alphabetically than chronologically, but this will show some breadth of what the guy could do. Like these collaborations Justin did with Olivier Coipel & @DanSlott The lighting, the color choice. And then the different styles of Spidey. More...
my lighting, shading and rendering layers are all the same layer LOL
Thread: Jean Delville (1867-1953) was a Belgian Symbolist painter. His art was a fantasy of dramatic compositions & lighting, characterised by melodrama. I think we’ll see this fin de siècle style gain in popularity in the coming years.
I fixed the background lighting, hooray! Still no background!!
