When applying shadows, you can shade them in gray like the grisaille painting method, and then process each layer using a warm or cool color scheme folder.

It's quite shit. But if I was to critique I would tell younger me to avoid airbrushing light and shadows, as well as practice some linework skills.

Added some highlights using a 45% opacity "overlay" layer, and also by erasing parts of the gradient shadow layer.
I also added a few more shadows, and increased the saturation of the linework/shadows to make them look a bit warmer.

I do have a story in the back of my mind (someday I'll write it down), but mostly I use these to track my skills. Look, 1º one had a lot of texture, but not much form, 2º has much more form without relying on dramatic shadows, and the new one has a lot more color.

Okay I’m pretty satisfied with this, gave him some irises this time and the colors are a bit more muted with some more rendering in the shadows, highlights, and some reflections. Also made the pants fully black (technically dark red) 🤔
