After going a bit crazy with dithering, decided to tone down. Also did loads of tweaking to 2D player, both to design and mechanics.

Been working on this for ~2 weeks. Haven't done a pixel background in a long time. And I don't think I've EVER done this much dithering.

300x300, uploaded at 2x size. Original uses 22 unique colors (without twitter's junky compression).

it's good but could use some unnecessary dithering

Love me some dithering in mah games. Sometimes I see people complaining about it, but in pixel art is a good way to create depth, blend colors, add textures and simulate transparencies. It's an art in itself for limited color palettes that deserves recognition, not hate

Wonder how well dithering does here.
Anyhow, more of 's Fech the Ferret for an Art event in the Discord Server.

Will upload to my site soon for higher quality.
Also Time-lapse coming soon.

I have a 7-color e-ink screen arriving tomorrow, so I'm experimenting with custom color dithering techniques. Here is Subscapes reduced to a 7-color, 600x448px paletted image.

Making progress on my lvl. I'm so happy with this so far. Check the dithering😁Not perfect, but good enough for me🥳

While it's on my mind, I'd love to see modern re-releases of old genesis/snes games include a dither-blend filter of sorts just to blend single pixel dithering as a lot of games used it for tansparencies/shadows. The effects are really cool when blended.

And this is the early sketch of the same part of the background. One of the ideas was to make the clouds in those deep, dark colours, but that made the background feel very tight and... almost claustrophobic.

Also heavy dithering doesn't work for me at all.

Excessive Dithering & AA does wonders for my more realistic portraits -- When you're working with a limited palette especially dithering is a blending delight (Though my first love will always be Anti-Aliasing)

Hope the heavy use of dithering I used aseprites pen pressure dithering so I hope the that's okay, I still had press hard or light depending how much I wanted to dither. Thanks for the challenge and have a great day

I can't help but mess around with dithering every once in a while.
"Screenspace" shadows with dithering, but I don't really know how to call it. Sticky screenspace?

Looking at 's posts and thinking how all this dithering would look in an old CRT monitor.

I know PC monitors aren't as blurry as a TV, but still...
