Back in university I used to spend my free afternoons crouched on the dimply lighted comic book corner of the French Institute Library. Metabarons was the 1st sci-fi series that completely gripped my attention.

I was sorry to hear that Juan Gimenez, one of the great artists of the comics medium died today. Let's remember his high craftsmanship and his groundbreaking work that made The Metabarons, The Fourth Power, Leo Roa, such beautiful works of art.
Though I adored Juan Giménez's art on The Metabarons (written by Jodorowsky) I really loved when he wrote and drew a whole book by himself, wheret he was able to be more playful while still delivering an absolutely astonishingly detailed space opera. RIP
Farewell to the amazing Juan Giménez, another victim of Covid-19. I discovered his work in Heavy Metal as a teenager. Later loved his work on Metabarons. Learned more about him when I made my episode about Eternaut which he later remade as L'Eternaut.
Although I understand death is natural part of our cycle, I am still torn inside about the loss of Juan Gimenez. Every one of his panels from Metabarons inspired me to be more.
