As for why, to me it has to do with Tatsu being this hyper serious, rigid mission-oriented hero, and Shiva being more of a free spirit who's still the better fighter.
It's about Shiva fucking with Tatsu and Tatsu trying to act like it doesn't affect her when it absolutely does.
