For my #indiegame review today I played Golf Sunday, an exceptional #PICO8 game by @johanpeitz. Aside from some great golfing action, the little details in this game make it shine. Leaving tracks in the grass and hitting destructible objects with golf buggies is good fun. (1/3)
Injecting level data into the sprite sheet knocked compressed data nicely below the limit. (I was using strings before.)
Maybe I can squeeze just enough extra tokens to make this a game!

複数カートリッジで開発する方は、subはデータ用という場合が多いと思うけど、今作ではプログラムが足りなかったので、通常用・街用・最後用と全部起動できるROMで現在位置によって振り分けてました。セーブデータが共通で動く3本のゲームというイメージ。共通コードの手直しがとても面倒。 #pico8
Just found this #pico8 Metroid mock-up I did a while back.
To save cart space the NES game stored its map as a grid of screens, each screen was a list of prefab blocks with xy coords. Would work well for Pico-8, but an original game would need a custom map editor.
