Elden Ring has this cozy vibe sometimes that’s hard to put into words, and other Souls games too. I think it’s the ambient sound like the bonfires and the slow music compositions etc.

Another trick for strong panel composition is to think in terms of foreground, middle ground, and background, instead of *just* foreground and background.

Look at how Milt Caniff creates depth in his panels with this technique.

Howe's compositions are so good. One of my all time favorite scenes from the Silmarillion, rarely has good art (imo) because they always take 1 metaphor and blow it out of proportion (Morgoth looming like a mountain or something) but Howe's "fingolfin's challenge" is amazing

This is one of those scenes that gets the drama by on drawing alone. Pose, detail, even the composition of the background. Kimiko’s solid chunk of green, vs Noriko’s bright light flowers. And it’s held for a solid few seconds.
