Because this fish is rather obscure and there's only a handful fossils to look for reconstructing, I used its close relative the Strunius and Qingmenodus as reference and also use extant Hoplias sp. as other reference, that gave me 2 version of the Onychodus as illustrated below
My 2nd entry of #FossilFishWeek, behold the wicked #Onychodus jandemarrai, hailing from Gogo formation in Western Australia, the best preserved of its genus with a fossil of an almost complete skull.
The first skull to emerge from Dmanisi was D2280, also the largest at the site. Although this site no longer presents the earliest evidence of H. erectus, it remains the earliest #hominin fossil assemblage in Eurasia. #paleoanthropology
Os presento a #Pentaceratops sternbergii. Uno de mis Ceratopsidos favoritos.
Cada día me acerco más al nivel de detalle que quiero para mis reconstrucciones.☺️

Onchopristis RIP, Saivodus, Cobelodus and Leedsichthys, the last three were done in the #paleostream #FossilFish #FossilFishWeek #FossilFishFebruary #Spinosaurus
Time to take part in #FossilFishWeek- fashionably late, of course!
Diplomystus dentatus, a predatory clupeomorph fish known from Eocene deposits. Fossils occasionally show this fish with large prey protruding from it's mouth, presumably choking to death and becoming fossilized.
So, it's promised post! Xiphactinus audax for #FossilFishWeek! I finally can justify my DevianArt nickname. 😁

"Aurorantrum"
Because I want fossil fusions from previous gens.

Just published in @PeerJLife - New research of the #dicynodont #fossils from China with one nearly complete skeleton referred to the dicynodontoid genus Turfanodon as a #NewSpecies

Type: Rock/Water
In prehistoric times, it swam on the sea floor, eating plankton. Its fossils are sometimes found.

Shock: Latest world temperature is now running BELOW the 1979-2000 average.. Using this metric we can see that temperature has now FALLEN to -0.1C in spite of 40 YEARS use of Man Made Fossil Fuels.. Greta, where exactly is the “Climate Emergency”

Because it's #FossilFishWeek I will post a bunch of pieces of extinct fishes over the next few days and on the weekend we will have fish centered streams. Today it's
Palaleonotopterus, Pachrhizodus, Eekaulostomus and Fucacauda.

In chapter 10, one of my favorite images, Rhunal is trapped by three of the obsidian-colored skeletons within the ancient manor. She rushes the one blocking her escape, blasting it with ice magic to stagger it. Hammering her bare fist into fossilized stone, she makes her escape.
Another sarcopterygian for day 2 of #FossilFishWeek! Here we have the lumpy, I mean lovely, Foreyia from the Triassic of Switzerland. This fintastic fossil highlights how a few slight changes to even just one gene may lead to a cascade of unique morphologic features!
