#OnThisDay 1797 the Spithead Mutiny began. @RoyalNavy sailors from 16 ships mutinied against poor pay and conditions. Later joined by 15 ships in #plymouth. The mutiny ended on 12 May when Admiral Howe agreed a royal pardon. Pay and conditions were also improved. #pay1800
