Wonambi naracoortensis (Giant Python) was a genus of non-venomous, constrictor snakes which acted as an ambush predator that killed its prey by constriction. It lived in modern day Australia about 23-0.01 MYA. Wonambi is the Aboriginal word for “rainbow serpent.”
