This week's #SundayFishSketch plays dead and is a mouthbrooder: Livingston's cichlid. This particular species is native to Lake Malawi in Africa. It seems to play dead to lure in prey, and then quickly snaps it up!

Saturday Artwork for this week shows a 'Battle of the Biplanes', painted by a British artist Mark Postlethwaite.
The subject is a Fiat CR. 42 'Falco' of the Italian Air Force, which has just claimed a Royal Air Force Gloster Gladiator. The types met in WW 2, over North Africa.
Stw 183 is the left side of a young australopith face from Sterkfontein, South Africa. Although it has been likened to the type fossil of Paranthropus robustus (TM1517, green), virtually overlapping the fossils shows it lacks a classic "robust" face #FossilFriday

I review THE LEOPARD WOMAN (1920), an absolutely ridiculous espionage picture set in Northern Africa. The extravagant costumes can't save the terrible story.

Starting in 264 BC, Carthage (present day Tunisia) and Rome fought 3 wars.
