While IDW is great, I think the main reason I prefer post genesis-wave/reboot Archie is because we don’t really get these types of character interactions anymore.
I don’t think that’s Ian Flynn’s fault, though. It seems like SEGA is giving him a lot more writing restrictions now.

Thoughts from reading a bit of Archie Sonic - Art style is everything. The furry soap opera melodrama is cringe when drawn by Butler, but when Jon Grey steps in it works so well. The cutesy cartoon style highlights the absurdity of it all and suddenly it really works.
