The sea-hare. A princess uses her magic windows to challenge her suitors to a deadly game of hide-and-seek. A fox helps the hero to outwit her, by transforming him into a "sea-hare" and giving him to the unsuspecting princess.

Iara, or Uiara or Yara, is a siren, or in Brazilian and It is based on ancient Tupi and Guaraní lore, meaning 'lady of the lake or water queen.' Her presence is that of a fae seducing jungle wanderers.

One of my favorite fairytales since childhood has been The Little Mermaid. I used to borrow the 1975 anime film from the library every week as a kid. A little surprised my mom let me!
