This mecha montage pulls from the greater Yokoyama canon. Of course, the constraints of a seven day narrative only allow for so many robots to make an appearance. Imagawa, though, clearly wants to pay homage to his legacy. Plus, it makes this world seem so large.

Well THE BIRTH is awesome! The animation style and the hair metal is peak 80s but the world building is so well done! It’s a tight 50 minutes of storytelling with a really solid premise and a great narrative progression from high school bullying drama to balls out carnage candy!
