For me, I start by sketching an outline on a separate layer. Then I paint using other layers (1 layer for skin, 1 for hair in front, 1 for tentacles, etc.).

If I need to refine edges, I use the eraser tool.

Basically, I'm painting the picture, not drawing it.

She’s coming along. I think I’m going to use to really get some work done on my next book. The outline is complete, the plot is ready. All I have left is some method moments to get into these characters’ heads. 😳

Tried to go colored-outlines and see if i could pull it off; ending up giving up and switching back to the original black outlines when i saw how cool it looked with it, haha
