This is 'The Seine' by Henry O. Tanner (1859–1937). He studied under Thomas Eakins in the US and studied in France, where he exhibited at the 1896 Salon. He later worked for the Red Cross during WWI, painting images of African American troops in the war. #bhm #blackhistorymonth
Born in Leipzig, he was keenly interested in the history of art & stained glass. During WWI he was an orderly. The war changed everything for him & his once academic style became expressionistic. Idioten (1913), Self-Portrait (c1900 & 1901) & Landscape (1902)
I’m a WWI and WWII history nerd and I’m obsessed with @HardcoreHistory and @1917 so I sketched this and forgot to post on twitter
The scientific name for rhubarb means 'from the barbarous lands of Rha'(the Volga River), and is a favourite food of the baba yaga. It was also responsible for the death of 18 people during WWI and II due to some dodgy goverment advice about eating the leaves... #FolkloreThursday
Don't mind me, just casually advertising the usual cheap sketch commissions.
Lemme draw your waifu, whether it's a big tiddy bote or monster girl wearing WWI era uniforms (which I tend to get a lot of, lmao)
A. A. Milne processed PTSD (from serving in WWI) by writing stories about his time in the woods with his son, Christopher.
E.H. Shepard was asked to illustrate them.
The rest is history.
Here is our #kidlit #arthistory post on Ernest Howard Shepard. https://t.co/X6YBfEgiCj
This is a more industrial or WWI themed Hel that I made for s story I’m making where she’s more of a dictator and her main goal is to industrialize all of Helheim and tame the Wild Lands that lie outside of her control. #art #ArtistOnTwitter #digitalart

the 11th day of the 11th month at the 11th hour an armistice was signed signifying the end of WWI, later after many more wars (namely WWII) the holiday became a commemoration of the sacrifice that our servicemen and women give in order to keep us free. happy veterans day!
Inktober was a challenge with my busy schedule this year. I used the topic of WWI for inspiration. Here are a few of my favorites. #Inktober2019
