This one is my favorite tattoo design for sure. I just really like the triangular composition of the design. I think I did pretty good on the hatching details as well. It's not something I normally do but I think it turned out ok

I start with a Delaunay triangulation of a set of random points - a regular triangular grid produces too regular quads for my needs:) Then as you described I merge random pairs of triangles into quads. Then I fix certain defects (colored curves on the first and second images)...

I did this little tutorial back in the day, maybe it could help😅
When drawing a face, I always start with big geometric shapes (faces could be triangular, square, ovals) Once I have the big shapes in place I start focusing on the singularities of eyes, nose and mouth.
