fun fact! eliss has a crocodile-like jaw, but like, times ten. by which i mean the muscles to open it are pretty weak (to the point that opening it too often in a short amount of time causes strain), but the muscles to close it could probably crush a truck

Sure! This is my sort of guesstimation, it isn't based on much other than just crocodiles, lizards and birds. I honestly don't even know if we have evidence of padding or even that they necessarily needed it. Would be interested to hear thoughts on this from some other people.
