@arvalis There are many good reasons why art teachers try to discourage anime style. It's a perfectly valid way to draw and many thrive with it, but there are vital underpinnings and fundamentals of drawing that must be understood before photocopying someone else's manner.

This is one of my favourite little paintings by Rembrandt. Jeremiah (1630) is lamenting the destruction of Jerusalem. The feeling of sadness & loss is palpable. The miller’s son really understood & translated emotion. Viewed in the museum, the sadness is devastating.
