The candy cane snail (Liguus virgineus) is a mollusc endemic to the Caribbean island of La Española (Haiti and the Dominican Republic). The first illustration of this arboreal snail was published in 1684 in “Recreatio Mentis et Oculi” by Filippo Bonanni.
