Today @CosineSystems releases my simple little Xmas demo for the #C64. It's called 'MD202112 - Humbug 2'. Download: https://t.co/BbpOZjwV71 #c64retweets #Everything64 #Commodore64
@FlightDreamz @gregnacu I have on Amiga Ultima's III, IV, V, and VI (The False Prophet — which was the one game I freely admit was *not* good on the C64.) So I think I'll play trough Ultima VI on the virtual Amiga. For the rest, I should visit them on DOS one of these days. Still. No rush though, eh? 😁
@MrVGBrow @kitchengarry "You have never experienced Shakespeare until you have read him in the original Klingon."
Keystone Kapers. Best enjoyed on the C64. 😉
@KobuRetro Aha, Hired Guns would have been my pick! Lovely choice and an amazing game.
I'll go with one that was critically acclaimed at the time but I feel has lapsed into obscurity: Hammerfist on C64. A graphically gorgeous action adventure with two switchable chars.
In ep35, Zapped to the Past #podcast got our robes on and our golem out in Druid, one of the best Gauntlet style games on the #C64. Highly recommended. #podcasts #C64Retweets #videogames #retrogames #80s #PodcastRecommendations #Commodore64 @Fluttermind
@ResetC64 Also, my one holiday in Australia as a kid, when we were in the big Myer store in Melbourne, I hunted round till I found the computer section, and bought Microprose's Airborne Ranger, and Project Stealth Fighter on disk for the C64. That was the best holiday purchase ever. 😁
@BitmapsRetro Cool. Yeah, I wasn't a fan of the early Magnetic Scrolls system. It worked great on the C64. I couldn't entirely tell how it worked on the ST, but on the Amiga those menu-scrolls kept on obscuring the top line of text. It's like they never even playtested it. 😐 Stupid system. 😠
@JudgeDrokk @david_pleasance @RetroGamer_Mag Sports games weren't ever anything I went out of my way to play on the C64. So I never saw International Tennis. I did have Match Point though. So I didn't feel I was missing out. 😄
@The_Top_Loader @SupernerdsT @stewie55uk @LULU6kat @Arcade_Adriano @arcadeattackUK @stevecourtney79 @cindyjacks @DANIELakaDEE @ColonelFalcon @sincespacies @LordDestiny_ The first game I ever tried that had a cinematographic look to it was "Karateka" on the Apple II and C64. Games like that and Another World really stand out. 👍
Did you ever see Flashback? It was like Another World, but with more arcade/platform action to it. 🤓
@DonjonRelic @CommodoreBlog @SyntaxErrorSoft Oh yeah! Actually, I played Ultima III, IV, V and VI on the C64. So I was already addicted to Kenneth Arnold's excellent SID tunes by the time I got to Warriors of Destiny. Long story short, I got hold off a C128 and 1570 Disk drive off a friend. It was gorgeous. Mmmm.. Music. 😁
My Favourite Games of 1988 – No. 5
Armalyte
Technically outstanding and boasting gorgeous graphics, top tunes & eight amazing levels of beautifully designed, exhilarating blasting action, Armalyte is arguably the all-time No. 1 shoot ‘em up for the C64. Simply incredible.
My Favourite Games of 1988 No. 8
Ikari Warriors
John Twiddy (The Last Ninja) did a superb job of converting Ikari Warriors to the C64. Ram packed with frantic action, this run & gun game is rock hard but extremely playable & very enjoyable, especially in two-player co-op mode.
My Favourite Games of 1986 – No.10
The Great Escape
Inspired by the film of the same name, The Great Escape is one of the tensest and most atmospheric games on the C64. Brilliantly designed, utterly absorbing and incredibly detailed, it’s an outstanding arcade adventure.
@JamesPond47 I don't remember having bugged copies of anything on the C64. (But we were mostly copying hired originals, rather than getting hold of cracked versions.) 🤔 But I did have a cracked Cannon Fodder on Amiga that wouldn't save. So I just bought the game, coz it was awesome. 😁
@OldTechAdverts Fight Night is probably one of the better boxing games on the C64. 🤔 The tape version works well enough, but you get more tournament options with the disk verison.
@C64Reloaded Staff of Karnath was the first Ultimate game I got for the C64. I loved the whole 3D oblique graphic style, and the blank screen with footstep-sounds as you transition between levels. 👍
@FloppyDeepDive So many colours! 😮
This was the first Ultima I became addicted to, way back on the C64. Then I played IV V and VI, also on the C64. So I feel the need to have SID music with my Ultima gaming. 😁 But yeah, a great game. It felt very "traditional RPG", with the character creation.
WIP - Been a few weeks - heres an update. Space battle section is now bug free, fighter section nearing code completion, then onto cannon section.
Did a little curve editor so that the fighters vary their flight paths #c64.
