WEIRD SCIENCE was released OTD in 1985, one of a flood of nerdy teen scientist movies (REAL GENIUS, MY SCIENCE PROJECT, THE MANHATTAN PROJECT). That certainly kept the box office lower, but it's since become a cult favorite, especially because of Bill Paxton & Robert Downey Jr.
