Frances Hodgkins travelled from New Zealand to Europe in 1901 and visited France in the same year. The coastal town of Concarneau, where there was a school of water colourists led by Gaugin's friend and biographer Charles Morice, is most likely where this picture was painted.

The last things we need to do this afternoon #ComicCon is give an honourable mention to the #letterers, #colourists, #editors, #ConWranglers, #distributors & of course the fans that make @Markosia the publisher it is today.

Some fairly quick colours I did on a killer Thor piece by @declanshalvey. Declan kindly made some of his inks available to help colourists escape the isolation blues. When the inks have such a strong light source it really is a pleasure to colour.
Born #onthisday1882 Arthur Carles American #Modernist #painter & one of most brilliant colourists in history of American art Highly intuitive he saw art as an affair of the emotions His style spanned #Tonalism to #Impressionism & foresaw emergence of #AbstractExpressionism
Reminder that m'colleague @ErenAngiolini is one of the best colourists in the biz
Big fan of the Scottish Colourists, #Peploe in particular. I took these photos today at the wonderful @KelvingroveArt Museum in Glasgow.

Pleased to be included in this international juried exhibition for the 8th time. It's normally held in Toronto, so great to see it come to @LeightonCentre in Calgary for the first time since 2009. Drop by the exhibition to see some of the top watercolourists of today. #cspwc
Sold at the weekend, “Green Sea No5” a 12” x 15” Acrylic painting by #DonaldMcIntyre. He was heavily influenced by the #ScottishColourists. Since his death in 2009 his popularity has increased and one of his paintings sold at auction in Cheshire last year for over £16,500.
Looking over issue 12 of Thirteenth Doctor from last week, and I swear @ErenAngiolini is one of the best colourists working atm
@W4BookFest so explored Bedford Park. Holmwood in Bedford Park was the home of Richard Bowdler Sharpe from 1879. He was ZSL #Librarian in 1867 & an ornithologist. Many of his 10 daughters worked as colourists for beautiful books about #birds & Emily Mary was an entomologist.
