Are there any comic letterers looking for work? I may have a project in 2023 if anyone is interested. Feel free to DM me.

Hey, letterers: please don't overlap the balloons of different characters when there's plenty of space to avoid it. It often gets confusing.

Posted this on Mastodon last night. Thought it might be nice to show here as well, especially since I’ve gained new followers!

Also, I can’t say this enough, I write these tales, but they don’t exist without amazing artists, colorists, editors, letterers, and other team members!

I dig it when letterers show off their work on Twitter so I'm going to start doing the same. Here is an SFX I did for a story a few weeks ago.

There's an issue of Archie Sonic (#92) that did something similar: I bring this up here because the artist (Michael Higgins) actually worked on transformers in the past: being one of the letterers on issue and writing the GI Joe crossover mini (images from )

It's Juneteenth. I want all black comic creators, writers, artists, editors, letterers whomever, to share their projects! Mine is still Love on Kickstarter, check it out: https://t.co/TsHBrgjaKi

Lettering question! When working in all-caps, how do y’all handle words that almost require mixed case, like iPad for example? I had to work out a solution to this yesterday and I think it’s fine but I’m curious what other letterers and artists do.

Something I really wish editors would ask letterers to avoid: creating "walls" between characters with the balloon links. Bisecting panels in this way just looks awkward. I've always found it really distracting.

Well, you see Ms M, comics were traditionally printed on poor quality paper, and the ink tended to bleed, and block caps retain better legibility when printed under such conditions, and now we all sort of follow the tradition of the fine letterers who came before us…

1) When did you make (or take part in making) your first comic?
2) What was the comic you worked on, and what did you do on it?
