Been there! Kinda cobbled mine together ages ago (also in GMS2), I'll likely redo it eventually but for now I've got the simple-ish method of deactivating everything and displaying a screenshot behind the menu, if it helps at all! (pretty sure you're better at this than me lol)

Screenshot of some things, reworking some of the item sprites, but its all coming together. Make sure your plants have some sort of light near them or they will dry out, also make sure you water them as well or they will rot :P
