Fire and Ice was always my favourite Amiga platformer.
Maybe part of that is sentimental, as I had it from day one with my first Amiga.

Though, looking back on them now, I think maybe I'd rank Superfrog higher. 🤔 It's hard to judge. 🙂

Let's face it, Banjo Tooie had peak level design for a 3d platformer. All of these were peak. We may never reach this level of brilliance again! The music themes for these levels are amazing too, especially Glitter Gulch and Hailfire.

On that point, I'll be real interested in how conflicted you guys will be when you get to the June '87 Zzap. That one has Nemesis the Warlock. A stonking good game, but a complete waste of a license. It's just a slash-em-up platformer. But has nice 2000AD-level violence going on.

10) Celeste is too clean. The movement is everything I want from a platformer. Three buttons, a stick and unlimited possibilities. No slippage. You're in control of everything you do down to the pixel. Honestly could play this forever if I keep finding good mods.

Rick was back & more infuriating than ever! Better graphics & sound, improved level design, and more addictive/annoying trial and error gameplay. Haters still hated it & masochists still loved it. Another cracking platformer.

Jumping Flash turbonerds (all three of us) should look into Geograph Seal, the last game Exact made for the X68000. It's like finding the alternate take demo version of a big single you've heard for years. Geograph is more of a shooter, though, whereas Sony wanted a platformer.
