In Tolkien's notes, the Mountains of Tiranny were created by Morgoth in order to conceal his fortress Angband. When the Dark Lord was defeated, Eärendil slew Ancalagon the Black and the great dragon crashed upon these mountains, destroying them.

I don't have time to dig through Professor Tolkien's notes. I'm far too busy making a Sanic.

In last years of the Soviet Union, an enigmatic Russian artist took famous pictures of Rivendell (1937) and Barad-dûr (1944) and reforged them into a monstrous spider's lair. Follow me and I'll soon reveal more. Btw it's not Denis Gordeev (version featured below)

Unironically this
This is preferable

I can't even get off on how much of a dumpster fire this is going to be and make fun of it

Not with Tolkien's work, not with my greatest inspiration as a writer https://t.co/SLLIYcatdi

Hah! I can name two things with connection to Tolkien's works which I am more excited for:

-"Kingdoms of Arda" mod for Bannerlord
-"The Lord of the Rings: The War of the Rohirrim"

In my recent paper I relate how Tolkien's Glorund sets forth to seek Túrin (1927) uses a medieval motif featured in an Edward Johnston book (1906). Well, here's an original iteration included among the dizzying heights of Notre-Dame's c.1250 rose window

Sketching mood, so here's one more
My very first OC, elf from Tolkien's world - Elennion
I almost forgot about him, but he's got a fancy shiny armor which i want to draw next

Tolkien's still trending so here's a thread of all my Dís related art so far (it's starting to pile up haha). For those who do not know, she's Thorin's younger sister and the only named (canon) lady dwarf in the legendarium

though i only watched the jackson's movies (never had the chance of buying tolkien's books sadly) your mission worked wonders for me! i'm really interested in the lore of middle-earth, and it's nice to see a channel dedicated to tolkien and his precious works. :)

Well, it's based directly on Tolkien's own piece

Which characters (outside of Tolkien's and Lovecraft's works) can beat this trio?

Tolkien's “bright colour" comment may be literal: in “English and Welsh” he quotes from the 1st Branch of the Mabinogi in which the otherworld dogs of Arawn King of Annwn are shining white with brilliant red ears (Art by Roger Garland)
