Turning the hands not only eliminates those tangents like you said, but it also creates other "lines" that point towards the face! Which is good!!!!!!!

Not at all related tangentially (just randomly reminded by bringing it up), but I plugged this old Ask pic of a mimic into AI-driven colorizers (Paintschainer Canna before it became Petalica, and Hotpot) and the output was honestly kinda impressive hahaha, I should do this again.
