This is a kind of #Ottoman monument called a nişan taşı (target stone). They mark the spot where a sultan hit a long-distance target with a bow or rifle. This nişan taşı, in an area called Nişantaşı, has a poem recording how Mahmud II shot an ostrich egg from 600m in 1811 🥚🔫🤷♂️
