The Dragon, issue 38. Highlights include Gygax’s Sorcerer’s Scroll, and the Bestiary. It’s probably the most notable for being the last copy of “The Dragon” before the publisher separated completely from TSR Hobbies, and became simply “Dragon.”

Indifference / Doom / 2002 / by Andy Leaver

A relatively large level with hornets' nest-style exploration as you are constantly exposed through windows and cage walls. Fun and furious; Leaver avoids the registered bestiary (and Barons, for that matter).

3. Continued: that being said, Dr. Slump is an overweight nerd who exists to explain the Therian Bestiary. He's made of sterner stuff than me if pushed -- in his youth he fought the monsters he writes about. But he's let himself go a good bit.
