dumb brain stuff aside, i drew a pirate boi from @Theropod_art's fossilfolk race. i cant wait for the race to be finished so i can fuel my very unhealthy dino addiction in dnd
@Tscribblesart Of my recent illustrations, I'm the proudest of these 3. One of my favorite kickass women of yore is Mary Anning: an English fossil hunter who contributed tons to paleontology in her time.
Concurrently, I was describing the anatomy of fossil crocs and dinosaurs. I struggled with illustrating and finally gave up stippling braincases like I used to and opted for a tracing and shading motif instead. Photos + illustrations are our primary expose of anatomy data.

I have an unexpected opening for a commission! A series of illustrations I was scheduled to start right now got cancelled, so I have time for a commission for the beginning of September. If interested DM me or write me an email (details on my bio) #paleoart #sciart #fossilfriday

Happy #FossilFriday! Here's a photogrammetry model of an Eryops pelvis from the Cambridge Museum of Zoology. It finally finished computing the dense point cloud (after days of continuous processing!). My first time using photogrammetry to model a specimen, pretty exciting!
#FossilFriday An Upper Palaeolithic engraved human radius associated with ritualistic cannibalism (Gough’s Cave, UK – 14.700 cal BP). 💀💀 #GoughsCave #cannibalism https://t.co/FykhQ4eciq
#FossilFriday September 6, 1802, birthday of French naturalist Alicide d'Orbigny, pioneer of the study of microfossils 🦠🔍 https://t.co/ap7oCtO9dj
For #FossilFriday, the oldest European ruminant! Bachitherium thraciensis from Bulgaria & Serbia (ca. 38My, Late Eocene). These fossils explain a tectonical diachronism of the faunal dispersals into Europe at the base of the Oligocene (34My vs 31My).

@dolevfabrikant Predation on Anomalocarids is hardly speculative. We have one fossil which either shows part of the (very) dangerous appendage of Omnidens, or, a chunk of Anomalocarid in the mouth of Omnidens. Either way, it must have eaten Anomalocarids.
(Its in the bottom illustration)
For those unfamiliar, Arsinoitherium was a horned prehistoric mammal. Contrary to its looks, it was closer related to elephants and sea cows than rhinos. Its fossils have been found in Africa & the Middle East. (Reconstructions by Zdenek Burian, @MarkWitton, Rod Ruth, & ???)
✨12/31 Sinosauropteryx✨This critter was no bigger than a cat, but was one of the most important Paleontological discoveries ever. The fossil of this creature preserved fluffy filamentous feathers that were so well fossilized, scientists could tell what color they were!
Meet Hydrale and Aquillosaur, the fossil pokemon for @MrShyGuyBuddy inspired by the amazing spinosaurus aegyptiacus
It is a rock/ water type
