Ljubljana. What a treat to visit the National Library designed by Jože Plečnik from 1930 to 1931 as a Gesamtkunstwerk, obsessing over the horse's head door handles, the ancient fossils embedded in the grey Podpeč marble and the Reading Room railings made from plumbing pipes.
Found this interesting block of bone at Charmouth yesterday... looks like a row of Ichthyosaur verts and ribs.

An exquisite fossil found in Germany features a spear-nosed fish and a toothy pterosaur forever locked together.

Nenúfares. An Unenlagiine in its pond. Some old art for this #FossilFriday #scicomm #palaeoart
Time to briefly revisit Elrhaz Formation with this #Nigersaurus taqueti model. Original reconstruction of this animal was among the first sauropods ever portrayed with a form of "beak" at the tip of the jaws.

As it's #FossilFriday I took a punt at a Pachyrhinosaur...
(apologies to actual #paleoart / #paleontology people, for any horrific amateur mistakes I've blundered into - feel free to correct if I've disgraced current finds in some way, I'll bare in mind for future)
#dinosaurs
As a palaeontologist I also spend time on my research. I use a method called X-ray micro-computed tomography to LOOK INSIDE FOSSIL’S BRAIN CAVITIES to understand more about how they thought and felt
Q: What does #ADayInTheLife of a palaeontologist’ look like ?
A: Most palaeontologists work as a university lecturer, or at a museum. I look after vertebrate fossil collections at NMS - everything from fish to dinosaurs. Here's me & an albatross.
O is for Oohkotokia. A 74 million year old anklyosaur. The name is in honour of the native Niitsitapi people in North America, who's land it was found on. #FossilFriday

#FossilFriday #Radiolaria and I guess Exhibit C would be this cutie I described a few years ago: Enneaphormis tippula Renaudie & Lazarus 2016 (here the holotype from the late Miocene of ODP site 746A).
I had this idea for a #fakemon a few days ago. I was reading about certain jellyfish fossils from beached jellyfish that absorbed all the sand. So we got these creepy Ground/Ghost Pokemon. I don't have names.

Getting excited for New Horizons so I drew Blaze as a villager. She likes fossils.
A Tyrantrum TF commission I drew for MrBraken on FA!
"Fossil Revival"

@elonmusk Tesla comes like a meteorite ☄️
Literally kill the fossil fuels
#monsterdesignmonday
A new monster for monday! Had a cool idea for the head and sorta just ran with it.
Fossilich, a skeleton of a fish possessed by a vengeful sea spirit. The slowly lurk on waves of the ocean looking for sea monsters and people lost at sea to consume.💀
No. 696: Tyrunt
Royal Heir Pokémon
This Pokémon was restored from a fossil. If something happens that it doesn't like, it throws a tantrum and runs wild.
Im a malaysian who spend most of my time on Taiwan, mainly use (but not very well on) japanese and english on twitter. I make stuffs about arthropods, specifically gijinka and diagrams, but recently also reconstructions of some fossil taxa as well.
