Adopted & treated as a daughter of , Zatara is what he calls "the exact opposite" of . She's cute, polite, sweet, and uses tentacles to fight crime! He keeps her innocent by not letting her see a single lewd.

Beta Tentacool:

Tentacool's beta design had a lot more tentacles, but it appears most were removed when Tentracruel was created later in development, so it'd look weaker than its evolved form.

1. Beta sprite recreation by
2. Beta sprite, final sprite
3. Final design

Tenya Yabuno was thinking in Arkadimon Super Ultimate as a "cool-looking humanoid".

But when he saw the Nomura Jellyfish he changed his mind for a lumpy shell with tons of jellyfish tentacles.

He made one sketch for each idea ending up combining both!!
