Day 1284: Final Values! I'm pretty happy with the final pass on the values. I'm sure I can get some good feedback from my mentor next session, but I think I've captured the look I was going for with it. I felt sick today so it was rough to get work done, but I'm making progress!
Here's another statue I painted recently! 🎨
Also posted as a YouTube tutorial, that you can watch here 😁:

I love these simple subjects that allow to focus on big shapes, values and temperature, rather than lots of small details.

@zliva_art Hello, I'm Monica! I'm working on finding a new artist name, because my real name feels silly...
I'm going to try incorporating more filigree into my work, and studying values. I also have a list of soothing cute things I want to draw in this craziness ❤️
Three droplets of snot in the air,has put us to care for the elderly, to value science above the economy, has told us that not only the homeless bring pests, that our pyramid of values was inverted, that life always came first & that the other things were accessories.

The embed! I wanted to keep this strictly values and smearing stuff, with a VERY on-the-nose knockoff of Piotr Jablonski (Destiny, Dishonored) using color balance stuff!
I really dig this piece so here's its #StartToFinish
I placed values at the very beginning and it was a huge help
The solution is really easy, just being mindful of values at all times right from the start. If the goal is to create an appealing 2d visual, then why wouldn't you think of values and shapes from the start?
btw here's my process for this one, i tried to get it done asap and the values method is very effective n fast
So one of the things I’ve been trying to get together was Spea’s personality and her values/philosophy. I wanted to make her contrast from her big bro Ansoni who is naturally more kind and composed.
So here’s the Sweet Pea in all of her glory.
some studies i did this week
the first one is focused on capturing the right form and proportion, the second one is for values (thus very rushed on the first part) and not quite finished
both took 3 hours
i don’t post a lot of content rn, but please take it :’>
goodnight
Another portrait study! This was sketched/painted entirely last night on Twitch. I really love that beam of light hitting the model's face. Deciphering the values was particularly tricky but I think it came together by the end.

#Candra Night-Riders Rev. 1.1: The increase in rank values have been lowered, and things that decrease rank lower it much more. A few enemies and bosses have slightly less HP. Suicide bullets no longer appear in censored mode. #Shmup #IndieDev #GameMaker

A very generous $10/month from @swheatley just gave them access to our exclusive Discord!
We thought we'd dig out something special, so here's an official Super Mario Bros. 3 pose that we'd never seen before, colored using the official Pantone values.
@inkfycreates Though it depends on the piece, my process often begins with a clean sketch, and underneath goes an overall value study. From there, color gets slapped on top of both, keeping with values, and is gone over and over with the piece as a whole until it's rendered.
