Do you have an idea of what techniques and materials you’d like to use? I’d definitely start with some photography, exploring composition, lighting etc. I’ve used simple objects such as marshmallows with my students-these pics would make lovely paintings/mixed media pieces too.

Dynamic gestures, strong composition, good use of negative space or even warped perspective or all combined. Masashi Kishimoto's illustrations would be a great example of this. Very strong understanding of foreshadowing from himself, making simple poses look exciting.
