for the eyes, i shade with a low opacity purpleish multiply layer and whatever im feeling that day
for the hair and clothes, i use a similar technique as with skin. i also add in an orange/red reflection from the skin on the dark parts of the clothes and hair closest to the face

Update 9: I decreased the opacity of the "special backgrounds" (eggs, dinosaurs, flames) and increased the rarity. I think this shows off the dragon much better.

The hardest part of pixel art in space is getting the smooth dithering and lighting on gasses. Using a gradient brush at ~50% opacity and the 'Jumble' tool gave me this after a lot of experimenting. Kinda like it!

Base, shading on both ends, lighter color for highlights in middle, then a big curve across with an even lighter color and erase some parts on low opacity :D

For traditional just slap some gradients of selected color and leave the middle blank and hope it looks good >.>

If you want to bake opacity (something blender can't do), create a master material that everything uses and bypass the alpha channel into a diffuse shader for baking!

tbh, i think the art is some of the best quality on solana rn. shading is great, opacity in the glasses is great, awesome contrast, good facial expressions.

also, the resolution on these is amazing.
