Joseph Mallord William Turner was born in 1775.

One of the greatest English painter's of his generation, his late works of the 1840s, like 'Flight into Egypt', are characterised by brilliant colour and free brushwork.

🔸If you're a fan of early 20th century-style painting or the work of Herbert Paus, you might like JOHN MOYERS.

I like the duality of graphic line incorporated with his representational brushwork.

Itt's best if you can buy it when it's cheap.w he cuts loose with his brushwork.
Buying art is another way to extend one's art education. Especially when you have a better understanding of it's created.
Though...it's best if you can buy it cheap

Born OTD, Thomas Lawrence (1769-1830). His best female portraits have a seductive dazzle: bravura brushwork, glistening lips and sparkling eyes. Countess of Blessington, Elizabeth Farren, Mary Hamilton (pencil & chalk, British Museum), Lady Caroline Lamb (Bristol Museums) 3/5

Experimental portrait for @/couldbeasquid!
Tried letting my brushwork do the heavy lifting instead of rendering everything this time and I'm quite happy with it :)

Cool expression and brushwork!❤️

I still have this sketch waiting for me to have time, today I finished a magical-bear-and-salmon for a commission (here's a sneak peek), and I recently finished this owl for the same project but we decided not to use it so he's homeless! 🥺

Great day spent doing masterclass, exploring large brushwork. This is a 2 and half hour study 60x50cm. Tomorrow we're working very large.

Today we are celebrating the birthday of one of the founding fathers of French Impressionism, Pierre-Auguste Renoir. ‘Au Bord de L’Eau’, painted in 1885 and sold by Dickinson, relies on fluid, intense brushwork and vivid tones, creating a tapestry of colour and textures.

Had some fun with speedpainting last week, tried to keep the brushwork loose and not get too strict about neat coloring. Now that I look at her with fresh eyes, I might want to make her more reddish and less pink...this looks almost like human skin o_O

As the artist matured his brushwork became more fluid & he used longer brushes which gave his work a sense of movement. His portraits of the Duchess of Beaufort (c1775), Mrs Graham (c1775) & of his nephew & assistant Gainsborough DuPont (c1775) are ravishing masterpieces
