The real reason they do this, is that when it's darker, you don't notice how bad the special effects are. That's why every Blockbuster ends with the character fighting a giant gray monster. It's why Vision is that color too. It blends the real life and CGI easier.

Yeah, this went overboard with the comedy. It felt embarrassed to be sincere. Sometimes that worked sometimes it didn't. The cgi also is probably the worst it's been in these movies.
