heres more how i woulda shaded it, going off of my own dog's side profile. even when doing cartoon furries like this it helps immensely to reference the facial structure of real dogs because then you have a better idea of where to put down the shading and highlights when painting

so at this point you may have already realized this, but with the shading here it looks like you just tried to arbitrarily apply the same shadow cast by the woman's cheekbone without taking the differing facial structure into account, thus it doesnt create a convincing 3D form
