It's hard to quantify what makes a character design good or bad, but generally, you should be able to tell something about the their personality based on how they look. This can be achieved through posture, color theory, and "shape language".
The one on the right fails at this.

I'm dropping this little theory, about Annie having a royal blood. Idc if you'll listen to me or nah. The critical info that convinces me that Annie might be a royal blood bc of the 'scream', like zeke, a single scream can control a mindless titan~
In literary theory, this is called “dramatic irony,” where the reader knows something that the character does not. Used extensively by Shakespeare, it creates a bizarre sense of sympathy and an anxiety over the cruelty of fate itself. 5/6
