Happy Many birds, like some of the species depicted in Alexander Wilson’s “American Ornithology" below, stick around through the cold winter months. For some tips on how to make your yard a haven for birds this winter, visit our blog: https://t.co/y3X6zgy3AM

John James Audubon’s Birds of America (1826-1838) is the finest ornithological work ever published. Its 435 hand-coloured plates depict 495 species, 25 of which Audubon discovered himself. Less than 200 sets were completed & still fewer survive today.

This image shows Leadbeater's cockatoo, as the pink cockatoo was initially known, as illustrated by young ornithological artist and future poet Edward Lear ("The Owl and the Pussycat") in 1832. It was also referred to as the "tricolour-crested cockatoo". (Pic via )

Today, P. cuvieri has its own genus, Cimoliopterus. We recognise it as an ornithocheiromorph, a long-winged, ocean-going species closely related to Ornithocheirus and Anhanguera. It was among the last of the toothed pterosaurs. But can we still consider it a giant?

Alright, here we go. Quite a few people asked for this so here it is, the phylogeny of Jurassic World's dinosaurs.

I do not follow the "ornithoscelida hypothesis" here, as studies are in the works casting doubt on its validity. I also don't include megalosauroids in carnosauria.
