1853年のこの日、フィンセント・ファン・ゴッホがオランダで生まれた。ポスト印象派の画家として、『ひまわり』『星月夜』『医師ガシェの肖像』などのほか、多数の自画像を残すが、生存中はほぼ無名だった。1890年、拳銃自殺を図ったとされ、37歳で死亡。
